Newsletter September 2023
Autumn equinox – the festival of harvest and gratitude and the time for long-term planning and nurturing, ensuring the right conditions for new growth in the coming year. Perfect timing for what’s been going on at Tregovenek.
AGM 2023
Tregovenek’s first AGM was held on 9th September as part of a wider day of participation and celebration. The day started with the lighting of the Children’s Fire, a check in and 2½ hours of working in the garden and on the bungalow, its amazing what can be done in that time with 20 people! After a shared lunch, the AGM was held and members were amazed and delighted to attend an AGM that took 15 minutes from start to finish!

After the AGM, members of the Voice of the Land and Heartholder Circles, offered a small ceremony to celebrate the end of the beginning of the project. It celebrated all that has happened, connected to ancestors, those present and the children to come. It reminded us of this time of equinox, of equal light and dark, a time for reflection, celebration and slowing down.
Then came shaping the next chapter of Tregovenek; a sociocratic election process to select some people to synthesise all the thoughts of all members into a proposal for what comes next. With much care and consideration, Michelle Virgo, Fiona Wood and Helen Parker were selected for the task. Taking on board all of the considerations that everyone put forward, they are now working on shaping the final proposal for Tregovenek’s next steps which will be presented around the start of October.
The day closed with a beautiful check out and more celebration with cake!

Annual Report (Not like any you will have read before!)
Here is the annual report for 2023. Jemma has done a beautiful job of producing this and it’s well worth a read.
It’s quite breathtaking realising all of the things we have achieved in our first year of being a Community Benefit Society.
Bungalow progress
Thanks to a very dedicated small team of volunteers headed by John Knowles, the bungalow is edging ever closer to being ready to rent. Huge amounts of work have gone into it over the last few weeks. New carpets are in, last bits of painting are being done and it’s looking and feeling amazing!

There is also a team working on not only the legal rental agreement but also how it all ties in with Tregovenek’s values and principles and what the tenant’s involvement with the project might look like.
Hedge-laying and Bio-char – Tregovenek’s first course offering!
