Celebrating the change of season & the humble, but mighty, pumpkin! |
|
|
Tregovenek’s first-ever growing season has been a great success but not without its challenges. The repeated heat-waves often made working in the garden quite tricky. Despite that we’ve had fantastic harvest of both food and medicines.
Many new visitors have been enjoying the garden, our volunteers are loving the weekly work parties and we are getting excited about our Pumpkin Celebration on 18th October! Plus we are keeping our fingers crossed that we find values-aligned people wishing to purchase parts of the property. |

| 👏 A brand new polytunnel 🍾
Just in time for a wet start to Autumn! It’s been an epic mission and all-hands-on-deck to get it all set up but it’s looking great and is already being put to good multi-functional use being a place to bring on seedlings, an undercover growing space and as a venue for workshops and gatherings on rainy days. Massive thanks to all our incredible volunteers (especially to Anthony for leading us on this) and also to the Asda Foundation for the grant to purchase it. It is definitely money very well spent! |

| 🌱 Sharing skills & having fun! 🌽
The Friday morning work parties continue to be enjoyed by many who return week-after- week for a hearty mix of work and fun. Our volunteer team is gradually growing in size too which is lovely to see. The last few months have seen us connecting ever-more strongly with each other and the garden as we learn no-dig techniques, different composting methods, scything, medicinal herb gathering, seed saving and permaculture design. Most importantly we seem to be winning the Battle of the Bindweed! |

| 👋 Welcoming visitors 🤗
Its so exciting to see increasing numbers of visitors to the garden! People just popping in to see what it’s all about but also community groups coming along for a tour. We’ve welcomed Pensilva’s Wednesday Club and Tamar Grow Local as well as the Wilding Tribe who are interested in hosting educational events for children. Sustainable Food Cornwall are also linking Tregovenek with local primary schools to help inspire them in their gardening journeys as they start to provide experiential learning about where our food comes from and how to look after our precious environment. |

What a lovely Annual General Meeting! |
|
|
|
We’re pretty proud of ourselves to be able to say that…sunshine, beautiful flowers, laughter, lovely people in a magical garden…& cake! (thank you Vicki 🤗) Our AGM started with the lighting of the Children’s Fire – reminding us that the decisions we make are for the benefit of the land, more than humans and humans for generations to come. We set an intention to bring the best of ourselves and be good ancestors.
As a Community Benefit Society, we have an annual meeting to make decisions that are put to members, such as electing people to our Board of Directors Circle, to accept our annual report, and agree to continue using the wonderful Triple Bottom Line Accounting Limited to help us with the complexity of accounts! |

We are a small team of volunteers and we want Tregovenek to be financially sustainable for generations to come, so we are looking for people to be neighbours to our community garden.
We have a bungalow, some barns with permission for conversion to houses and a 6 acre field available for a private buyer or a group of buyers who share our values and have similar ideas. This could be the ideal home for a group, or someone wishing to start or re-locate their land-based or wellbeing enterprise, we are open to ideas! 💡
If you are curious to find out more, please visit our website and read our brochure & FAQs. Closing date for proposals/offers is 30th September 2025. Please share if someone you know might be interested 🙏 |
