A busy and fruitful Autumn and a Winter pause for reflection
The lead up to the longest night feels like such a good time to be taking a breath after a very buzzy couple of months since the purchase of the farm. The public presentation of Tregovenek last weekend felt like the turning point to then spiralling back inwards for some much-needed reflection.
Here are some of the things that have been going on:

- We’ve given a tour of the farm to 20 members of Permaculture Kernow based in Millbrook
- Attended a hugely inspiring conference on ‘sociocracy for intentional communities’ which covered building trust, celebrating objections to proposals, non-violent communication and much more.
- Had our first work party in the garden (really productive and a gorgeous shared lunch!)
- Given a presentation at the Sustainable Earth Institute at Plymouth University looking at possible cross-faculty research collaborations covering everything from carbon capture to educational psychology, biodiversity monitoring, documenting (with the Faculty of Arts) and even possibilities with Politics and International Relations!
- Presented Tregovenek to the local community at Millennium House. A good turn-out, positive feedback and thought-provoking questions.
- Signed up 4 new trustees
- Lots of work has been done on the bungalow in preparation for renting
It’s been amazing to see different people wandering around fixing chimney stacks, painting and gardening whilst knowing there is also so much going on behind the scenes; finance policies, rental agreements, progressing ideas around the Voice of the Land, funding applications for the work to set up the community share offer and tweaking the welcoming process for new volunteers, to name a few!
So to keep us grounded and connected as a community, how about another work party? I propose Friday the 30th December. 10am -12pm followed by food to share for lunch. If you have any bowls, plates, mugs and cutlery you could donate for work parties that would be fantastic! We can then keep a stash on site to make life easier for everyone. We’ll be mostly working in the garden so wrap up warm. For those who would like to come and help-out but don’t feel up for physical work outdoors, it would be great to have people to keep the hot drinks coming, set up the lunch space and maybe even offer a rub to aching muscles! There’s talk about the need for a care and well-being circle….. 🙂 Please let me know if you’d like to come along in any capacity. Everyone is so welcome.
Gratitude for all those who are opting in so many different and beautiful ways to help bring about the vision. Please keep spreading the word. There are so many areas that could do with extra help and the more the merrier!
What a fantastic Tregovenek year it’s been! May we all rest well through the darker days until we emerge together again as the days get longer.
