Tregovenek’s first AGM was held on 9th September as part of a wider day of participation and celebration. The day started with the lighting of the Children’s Fire, a check in and 2.5 hours of working in the garden and on the bungalow, its amazing what can be done in that time with 20 people! After a shared lunch, the AGM was held.
Fiona Woods (stand in Chair for Matthew Axford) opened the meeting and conducted the formal proceedings. The Directors’ report and unaudited Financial Statements for the period ended 31st March 2023 were received and adopted. The auditors, Triple Bottom Line Accountancy, were re-appointed as the auditors of the company for the year to 31st March 2024, and the Board were authorised to set their remuneration.
As per the Tregovenek Rules, all Directors must stand down at this first AGM. The Directors who stood down were Jemma Knowles, Matthew Axford, Anthony Waters, Fiona Wood and Jesse Foot, however Jemma, Matthew, Anthony and Fiona stood for re-election. Subsequently, the four candidates were confirmed as Directors:
Jemma Knowles
Matthew Axford
Fiona Wood
Anthony Waters
There were no questions.
After the AGM, members of the Voice of the Land and Heartholder Circles, offered a small ceremony to celebrate the end of the beginning of the project. It celebrated all that has happened, connected to ancestors, those present and the children to come. It reminded us of this time of equinox, of equal light and dark, a time for reflection, celebration and slowing down.
Next came shaping the next chapter of Tregovenek; a sociocratic election process to select some people to synthesise all the thoughts of all members into a proposal for what comes next. With much care and consideration, Michelle Virgo, Fiona Wood and Helen Parker were selected for the task. The day closed with a beautiful check out and more celebration with cake!
